[Financial News] Actor An Yong-jun has reportedly been sued on charges including fraud and forgery of private documents.
According to Hankook Ilbo and other outlets on the 21st, complainant A filed a complaint against An Yong-jun that day with the Busan Haeundae Police Station on charges of fraud, forgery and use of forged private documents, and forgery of a private seal.
According to reports, complainant A had known An Yong-jun for a long time. They resumed contact last year when he commissioned A to translate a performance contract, and A later invested in a business proposed by An.
A claimed that An had presented exclusive contracts bearing the names of famous actors and proposed sharing profits if A invested in ventures including performances, fan meetings and album production.
A also said that An had claimed to have signed an album production contract with a major entertainment agency, but that there was no actual contractual relationship, and that the invoices An presented in connection with deposits for repayment were forged documents.
The total damages claimed by A’s side amount to 489.63 million won. However, the figure reportedly includes not only unrecovered investment funds but also amounts that a third party is demanding A repay, among other sums.
A representative of An Yong-jun’s former agency, Crimate Media, said, “I’m also a victim, and I plan to file a complaint soon.” An is reportedly not responding to outside inquiries at present.
An Yong-jun debuted in 2006 and became known for dramas including ‘Jumong,’ ‘Banollim 3,’ ‘Capital Scandal’ and ‘Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard.’ In 2015, he drew attention when he married singer Benny, who is nine years his senior. They welcomed a daughter in 2023.
