[Financial News] Images of campers charging personal electronic devices, including power banks, by connecting multiple cords to public restroom outlets have emerged, sparking controversy.
According to News 1 on the 22nd, a post accompanied by a photo recently appeared on an online community and social media, saying, “I saw a camper making full use of the electricity in a public restroom.”
The photo showed several plugs connected to a wall outlet beside the sink in a public restroom.
Items believed to be portable power banks were sitting on top of a hand dryer, while what appeared to be a speaker, various wires and charging cables were tangled together below.
A netizen who said they had been camping for more than 30 years criticized the bad behavior of some campers, saying, “There are so many strange people who, like that person, take on ‘unreasonable challenges’ and still go around calling themselves campers.”
They went on to cite examples: “People who secretly charge their electric cars at campsites using slow chargers, causing the circuit breakers to trip at dawn”; “people who cut across other people’s campsites”; “people who carelessly dump food waste in the communal sink”; “people who laugh and talk all night despite the quiet hours in the middle of the night”; “people who bring a microphone and sing”; and “people who keep an air-conditioner compressor buzzing all night in the middle of summer.”
Netizens who saw the post responded, “That’s no different from stealing,” “Are they even unplugging the emergency bell’s power supply to charge their devices?” “You’d think they came to sleep rough,” and “Just report them to 112.”
