[Financial News] An event will let visitors experience how the same news can be read differently depending on the perspective. Through exhibitions, escape-room games and theater, they can learn to examine the basis for information and make their own judgments.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 22nd, it will hold ‘2026 Media Literacy Week–Miri Week’ with the Korea Press Foundation from the 23rd through November 16.
Media literacy is the ability to understand and assess information critically. Through a 2021 resolution, the UN General Assembly proclaimed October 24–31 each year as ‘Global Media and Information Literacy Week.’
A pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul, will host the curated exhibition ‘No, But Seriously, What If?’ from the 24th to November 8. Visitors will experience a day in 2046, when artificial intelligence (AI) has become deeply embedded in everyday life, and consider how AI’s judgments represent just one perspective.
During the same period, the ‘Jump x Cut’ 2.0 escape-room game running here will have participants start with a news story and follow clues about an incident. They will experience how their initial judgment changes as they encounter new information.
The play ‘Jump x Cut’ will premiere November 7–15 at Wooran 2-gyeong, part of the nearby Wooran Cultural Foundation. Through the conflicting accounts and memories of six people involved in an incident, it invites audiences to reflect on how they take in what others say.
Related events will also take place. The ‘National Media Education Convention,’ held at the Korea Press Center on the 23rd, will discuss educational approaches for a generation familiar with AI.
The ‘Miri Awards,’ taking place at the CUBE Convention Center on November 14, will honor the winners of the 7th ‘News Reading, News Diary Contest’ and the 8th ‘Youth Checkathon Competition.’ On the 16th, the ‘KPF Journalism Conference’ will be held at the Korea Press Center under the theme ‘Asking About the Next 10 Years of Journalism.’
Anyone aged 12 or older can participate for free. The reservation deposits for the escape-room game and play are 5,000 won and 10,000 won, respectively, and will be fully refunded after participation. Reservation details and the full schedule are available on the official Miri Week website.
Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Choi Hwi-young said, “This Miri Week will be a good opportunity to develop the ability to view information from diverse perspectives and assess it critically in the age of artificial intelligence,” adding, “We plan to continue expanding media literacy education and experiential programs.”
