Here is the accounting you ordered, excluding the numbers / Jung So-ra · Hong Ji-yeon / Hyundae Jiseong
[Financial News] The new book "The Accounting You Ordered Without the Numbers," by Certified Public Accountant Jung So-ra and Accounting Ph.D. Hong Ji-yeon, explains accounting terms using the meanings of Chinese characters. The two authors, who majored in Chinese Language and Literature, wrote the book based on their experiences studying accounting as non-majors.
It is composed of four chapters covering basic concepts, account titles, corporate analysis, and financial ratios. For instance, it explains that the term "financial statements" is a collective designation for financial tables by noting that the character "諸" in "재무제표" (financial statements) means "various." It also clarifies the differences between easily confused concepts, such as accounts receivable and accrued revenue.
The appendix includes practical exercises ranging from journal entries to financial statement preparation, as well as an analysis of Samsung Electronics' business report. It guides readers in mastering the relationships between assets and liabilities, and revenue and expenses, and in interpreting a company's profit and loss and cash flow. It also presents methods for assessing corporate performance using financial ratios.
