Live Along Your River/Na Tae-joo/Dal
[Financial News] The poet Na Tae-joo has put into prose the thoughts he has carried with him over 81 years of life. His new book, 'Live Along Your River,' contains 107 reflections on life and literature, love and happiness. The poet, who made his literary debut in 1971 through the Seoul Shinmun New Writer's Contest, marks 55 years since his debut this year.
The book is divided into five parts, comprising pieces written late at night and in the early hours from December last year through February this year. They convey the importance of cherishing the present and the attitude needed to endure hardships, and express gratitude to cherished people, including his maternal grandmother, his wife and old friends. Comparing life to each person's own river, he urges readers to consider their direction and walk slowly.
The book also includes 10 poems personally selected by the poet and 10 aphorisms. Drawing on poems he has cherished for many years, including Samuel Ullman's 'Youth' and Kim Sowol's 'Mother, Sister, and I,' as well as words from Pablo Picasso, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, he reflects on how to approach life.
