[Financial News] On the occasion of Hanbok Day on the 21st, Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung said, “I hope the culture of naturally sharing the beauty of hanbok—not only on special occasions but also in everyday moments—will spread more widely.”
In a written briefing, Blue House deputy spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong said that Mrs. Kim attended the “2026 Hanbok Culture Week Commemorative Event” that afternoon at the Open Plaza of the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
In her congratulatory remarks, Mrs. Kim said, “I hope hanbok, which is attracting attention around the world, will become an even more familiar part of our everyday lives.”
She added, “By combining tradition with a contemporary sensibility and creativity, hanbok today is expanding its horizons as a cultural heritage representing the Republic of Korea and a key asset of K-culture.”
She went on to mention domestic hanbok brands’ efforts to enter the Milan and Paris markets, saying, “As an honorary ambassador for hanbok, I will work to promote its beauty and value widely to more people.”
Before the event, Mrs. Kim also visited the site of the Wear Hanbok Properly Campaign, held near Gyeonghoeru Pavilion at Gyeongbokgung Palace. She viewed hanbok-related exhibits and hands-on activity booths, and greeted members of the public and foreign tourists. She also joined hanbok influencers in filming a video for the #WearHanbokProperly Challenge.
This year’s Hanbok Culture Week is being held nationwide from the 19th through the 25th, with programs including exhibitions, hands-on activities and performances.
