[Financial News] Sookmyung Women's University has established Korea's first Employment Competency Development Center for the Francophone World (CEF+) in partnership with the University Agency of the Francophonie (AUF) and the French Embassy in Korea.
Sookmyung Women's University said on the 21st that it held an opening ceremony for the center at Sunheon Hall on campus on the 20th, attended by President Moon Si-yeon and Michel Miraie, chargé d'affaires at the French Embassy in Korea, among others.
The center was established to support students learning French as they explore career paths and prepare for employment. It will offer special lectures by invited experts, company visits, and training in writing résumés in French. With support from the University Agency of the Francophonie and the French Embassy in Korea, it also plans to provide employment-related information about French-speaking countries.
In 2002, Sookmyung Women's University opened the Le Cordon Bleu-Sookmyung Academy in partnership with Le Cordon Bleu, a French culinary school. Since last year, it has operated the Future Leaders Camp, where enrolled students take part in educational and cultural programs in France.
The Department of French Language and Culture has provided career-related education through major courses such as Business French and French Luxury Brands and Cultural Industries, as well as field trips.
The center began operating this month and plans to hold three special lectures by invited experts in October and November. In addition to students in the Department of French Language and Culture, enrolled students interested in French-speaking cultures and international exchange may also participate.
“Francophonie can open up a range of opportunities for students in their studies, international exchange, career paths and employment,” said Moon Si-yeon, president of Sookmyung Women's University. “I hope the center will grow into a space where students can plan their futures in concrete terms.”
