[Financial News] SC First Bank held a training program to help prevent older adults from falling victim to financial fraud and improve their access to digital financial services.
According to financial industry sources on the 22nd, SC First Bank held its “Financial Education on the Go for Seniors” program for about 30 local seniors at the Samyang-dong Comprehensive Welfare Center in Seoul on the 21st.
About 30 SC First Bank employees took part as skills-based volunteers, explaining how to prevent financial fraud and helping participants practice using digital financial devices such as kiosks.
SC First Bank has run the program since last year to improve older adults’ financial literacy and help them use financial services safely. Through the first half of this year, it held 169 sessions totaling 195 hours of training and helped about 2,900 seniors understand financial information and safely use related services.
Employees who volunteered that day paired one-on-one with seniors, supported the professional instructor in delivering the training, and showed participants how to use kiosks. They also explained common financial fraud schemes, prevention methods, and what to do if fraud occurs in an easy-to-understand way.
Park Seong-chun, executive vice president and head of SC First Bank’s Marketing and Communications Group, said, “I hope this activity will provide practical help for seniors to manage their finances safely and conveniently,” adding, “SC First Bank will create social value by sharing the financial expertise and capabilities of its employees, and will continue to carry out tailored social contribution activities that reflect the needs of different groups, including seniors, young people, and people with disabilities.”
