[Financial News] CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is teaming up with a veterinary hospital network to develop healthcare products for pets. The companies plan to jointly develop supplements for liver, pancreas and kidney health using colostrum exosomes, and establish a cooperative system spanning everything from ingredient production to distribution.
CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., an affiliate of CHA Biotech, announced on the 21st that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SKY Animal Medical Center for the joint development of pet healthcare products and business cooperation.
Under the agreement, CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. will handle the production of ingredients and products, as well as related licensing and regulatory approvals. SKY Animal Medical Center will provide advice on product formulations, drawing on its veterinary experience, and take charge of marketing and distribution.
The two companies plan to develop supplements for the liver, pancreas and kidney health of pets using colostrum exosomes. Colostrum exosomes are a functional ingredient for pets developed by the CHA Institute of Medical Research (CHARI) of CHA Hospital and CHA Bio Group using extracellular vesicle (EV) separation and purification technology. CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. recently obtained approval for the ingredient and established a facility to separate and purify colostrum.
Through this collaboration, CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. plans to expand the veterinary hospital-exclusive product line under its pet product brand Chaoreu and strengthen its portfolio of products for professionals. SKY Animal Medical Center will broaden its business by participating in the distribution of the jointly developed products.
SKY Animal Medical Center has operated branches in major regions across the country, including Incheon, Suwon and Cheonan, since opening its Bucheon branch in 2011. It provides specialized veterinary services for pets in a range of fields, including internal medicine, surgery and radiology.
“It is becoming increasingly important to combine R&D capabilities in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology with expertise in veterinary medicine,” said Lee Ju-hyeong, CEO of CMG Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. “Building on our existing collaboration on developing treatments for intractable diseases in pets, we will pursue the development of healthcare products and technologies.”
“It is meaningful that the two companies are bringing together their accumulated R&D capabilities and veterinarians’ clinical experience,” said O I-se, director of SKY Animal Medical Center. “We expect this collaboration to contribute to improving the health and welfare of pets.”
