【Financial News | Gwangyang = Hwang Tae-jong】Gwangyang City is drawing attention for operating the ‘Gwangyang Tourism Governance Partner Map,’ which lets users check at a glance everything from the area’s best-known restaurants to information on tourism businesses and discount and service benefits.
According to Gwangyang City on the 21st, the ‘Gwangyang Tourism Governance Partner Map,’ which has been operating since September, is a public-private tourism network recruiting businesses that are members of the Gwangyang City Tourism Association or wish to join it.
In particular, it covers five categories: seven “Way” spots for travel and transportation, seven “Play” spots for experiences, eight “Taste” spots for food, five “Style” spots for local specialties, and six “Rest” spots for accommodations. Tourists can check each business’s location and usage information based on their travel purpose and preferences, compare discounts and service benefits, and choose where to visit.
Gwangyang City Tourism Division Director Lee Hyun-ju said, “We expect the ‘Partner Map’ to make travel more convenient for tourists and boost local spending on dining, experiences, accommodations and purchases of local specialties, thereby also helping participating businesses increase their sales.”
To use the ‘Partner Map,’ visit it via the ‘Go to Map’ QR code provided on the Gwangyang City Tourism Association website and in promotional materials, log in, and download a coupon for a business of your choice. Present the downloaded coupon at that business, and a staff member will press the confirmation button to apply the benefit. Discount rates and services vary by business, and the coupons have no set expiration date.
Gwangyang City began recruiting participating businesses in June, held capacity-building training and a workshop in July, and built the Partner Map in July and August before launching the service in early September. The 33 businesses that met the requirements for completing the training and workshop held a completion ceremony in August, and all are now listed on the Partner Map.
Tourism Division Director Lee Hyun-ju said, “We will work with the Gwangyang City Tourism Association and participating businesses to step up promotion so that tourists can easily find Gwangyang’s tourism resources and local businesses and enjoy their trips even more.”
