[Financial News] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) supported 33 Korean companies in expanding overseas at MIPCOM 2026, an international market for broadcast and audiovisual content held in Cannes, France. They conducted 872 export consultations worth a total of $267.75 million.
KOCCA said on the 21st that at the event, held from the 12th to the 15th, it supported companies in taking part in the Korea Pavilion and setting up independent booths, and ran showcases for animation and broadcast content and formats. The export consultations were worth approximately KRW 364.4 billion, based on an exchange rate of KRW 1,361 to the dollar.
Now in its 42nd edition, MIPCOM is the world's largest market for broadcast and audiovisual content, drawing around 11,100 industry professionals from about 100 countries.
'Couple Palace' exported to Sweden; co-production and distribution partnerships also in the works

Eighteen companies from the broadcast sector and 15 from the animation sector took part in the event. In broadcasting, 15 companies joined the Korea Pavilion, while three—KBS Media, CJ ENM and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC)—ran independent booths. In animation, Sunwoo & Company, The Pinkfong Company and Royvisual, among others, held discussions with overseas buyers.
CJ ENM exported the format of its variety show 'Couple Palace' to Swedish broadcaster TV4. It also agreed to supply four titles—'True Beauty,' 'Another Miss Oh,' 'Goblin' and 'A Week Before I Die'—to Ditu, a streaming platform operated by Colombian terrestrial broadcaster Caracol. It signed a long-term partnership with Middle Eastern MBC Group. A dedicated TVING section will open on the OTT service MBC Shahid, which is set to receive around 30 Korean content titles this year.
Broadcast-sector companies ELTV and Another Story each signed an agreement at the event for brand collaboration and series co-production, respectively, on season 2 of 'Chefs of the Gongyanggan.' Animation company Pixtrand agreed with Lebanon-based content producer and international distributor Union Media to pursue a purchase deal for 'Akung Dakung Adventure School.'
On the 12th and 13th, KOCCA held an animation IP showcase and a K-content and format showcase to explore opportunities for overseas distribution and co-production.

Around 100 overseas buyers and industry professionals attended, including representatives of European media group Mediawan and global streaming platform Pluto TV. A total of 154 business meetings were held at the event.
The K-content and format showcase presented six drama and variety titles and formats: Space Rabbit's 'Yut War'; CJ ENM's 'Synchro Game'; KBS Media's 'The Logic'; MBC's 'TXT's Parenting Diary'; Just IP's 'Family Matters'; and SLL Joongang's 'Beyond the Bar.' Around 220 representatives of major broadcasters and media companies from around the world attended.
KOCCA plans to operate a Korea Pavilion at the Asia TV Forum (ATF), which will be held in Singapore this December.
K-animation screenings held in three Turkish cities; seeks to enter nearby markets

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KOCCA also held the '2026 K-Animation Screenings' in three Turkish cities—Ankara, Istanbul and Adana—from August 29 to October 4.
The event, the first of its kind in Türkiye, was organized to introduce Korean animation to local audiences and promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
KOCCA plans to continue working with local institutions and expand the program in the future to include dramas and films. It will also link the initiative with its program supporting Korean content companies' overseas expansion and use Türkiye as a base to explore export opportunities in nearby markets, including Europe and the Middle East.
Kwon O-tae, head of KOCCA's Content Export Division, said, "We will support Korean content companies in broadening exchanges with nearby markets, including Türkiye, and securing tangible export opportunities."
