[Financial News] Kyobo Securities employees handed over 10 million won to the Korea Green Foundation, raised through everyday carbon-reduction activities such as using public transportation and reusable cups.
Kyobo Securities said on the 21st that it had handed over 10 million won to the Korea Green Foundation, raised through its eco-friendly campaign Dream Green Race the previous day.
Dream Green Race is an eco-friendly program in which employees carry out carbon-reduction activities, earn points for them, and donate the points. In the campaign, which began in May, employees took part in around 3,500 activities in total, including using public transportation and reusable cups and sharing secondhand goods.
The donations will be used for a project to plant nectar-producing trees to improve the habitat of honeybees, whose numbers are declining due to abnormal weather, and help their population recover.
Kyobo Securities CEO Park Bong-kwon said, “Small actions by our employees in their everyday lives have come together to produce meaningful results,” adding, “We will continue to foster an eco-friendly culture through voluntary participation and carry on activities for a sustainable society.”
Kyobo Securities also plans to carry out community-focused social contribution activities this November, when it marks its 77th anniversary, including kimchi-making and sharing, support for children facing food insecurity, blood donations, and a book-sharing program.
