[Financial News] Going forward, e-coffee traded digitally will be redeemable for real green or roasted coffee beans and delivered to customers.
Bdan Gold of the Busan Digital Asset Exchange announced on the 21st that it had launched a physical redemption service for 'e-coffee' on Bdan, a digital exchange for physical goods.
e-coffee is a digital product linked to physical coffee and can be traded in units starting at a minimum of 0.1 kg.
With this service, Bdan users can redeem e-coffee traded digitally for real green or roasted coffee beans and have them delivered. Green beans are the standard redemption option; for an additional processing fee, users can also receive beans that have been roasted.
Users can choose to redeem the product in quantities of 1, 5 or 20 kg. McNulty International, the issuer of e-coffee vouchers, will handle product supply and delivery.
The coffee available for physical redemption is the 'Brazil Cerrado NY2' product, high-quality Arabica green coffee beans grown in the Cerrado region, one of Brazil's prominent coffee-growing areas. Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer. Cerrado, the largest savanna region in South America, which includes forests, wetlands and grasslands, is known as a coffee-growing area with consistent quality and stable production.
Bdan plans to use this physical redemption service to broaden the ways its digital products can be used and give customers an experience that connects the products they trade with actual consumption. The company expects the service to help ease the burden of rising international coffee prices for individuals as well as self-employed business owners, including café operators.
Kim Sang-min, CEO of the Busan Digital Asset Exchange, said, "The significance of e-coffee physical redemption lies in enabling customers to exchange digital vouchers for coffee products they can use in everyday life and broadening their experience. We plan to continue expanding the range of products and services that allow digital products to be redeemed for physical goods."
