【Financial News, Pyeongchang = Reporter Kim Gi-seop】The president of Gangwon Development Corporation and the labor union chair visited the Pyeongchang Green Bio construction site side by side, carefully checking protective devices, safety railings and openings and joining forces to prevent falls and entrapment accidents.
According to Gangwon Development Corporation on the 21st, the corporation conducted a special joint labor-management safety inspection that day at the Pyeongchang Green Bio construction project site, in conjunction with this year’s Safe Korea Exercise. The inspection was organized to uphold the purpose of the exercise, which prepares for disasters such as earthquakes, fires and wildfires, by checking safety management conditions and emergency response systems at the construction site and strengthening accident prevention efforts. Participants included corporation President Kim Tae-heon, Labor Union Chair Shin Dong-gi and other labor and management representatives.
The inspection followed the October focus areas under the corporation’s monthly intensive site inspection program. Labor and management representatives checked in turn whether protective devices were properly installed and functioning, whether safety railings were in place, and whether safety measures had been taken at openings, with an emphasis on preventing falls and entrapment accidents.
The inspection also covered preparations for emergencies such as fires. The representatives checked emergency contact lists, evacuation routes and the availability of fire extinguishers, and heard workers’ suggestions for improving working conditions and safety management. Based on the hazards identified during the inspection and workers’ suggestions from the site, the corporation plans to develop improvements and continue monitoring whether follow-up measures are properly implemented.
“Identifying in advance locations directly linked to accidents, such as protective devices, safety railings and openings, and incorporating suggestions from workers on site into improvements is the starting point for a safe construction site,” said Kim Tae-heon, president of Gangwon Development Corporation. “We will continue safety management by inspecting sites together with the union and create a workplace where every worker can work with peace of mind.”
