[Financial News | Mokpo = Hwang Tae-jong] Mokpo City has rolled up its sleeves to promote use of the Mokpo Love Gift Certificate.
According to Mokpo City on the 21st, it plans to increase issuance of the Mokpo Love Gift Certificate to 100 billion won and expand the number of participating merchants accordingly.
In particular, the city plans to work with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to operate the “Mokpo City Local Love Gift Certificate CHAK Supporters” program through December, promoting use of the mobile (QR) Mokpo Love Gift Certificate and making things more convenient for participating merchants and residents.
Mokpo Mayor Kang Seong-hwi stressed, “We will increase issuance of the Mokpo Love Gift Certificate to 100 billion won ahead of schedule and strengthen support for merchant registration so residents can use it conveniently.”
Mokpo City first held training for the 26 supporters on the CHAK app, how local love gift certificates are operated, mobile payments and how to use the certificates, and tips for visiting participating merchants.
The supporters will also visit businesses around the city to explain how to register as a mobile gift certificate merchant, adopt a QR payment system, and use the app. In particular, the city plans to provide practical, on-site guidance to merchants who are unfamiliar with mobile payments, helping them register and use the system while making it easier for residents to use the certificates.
Mokpo City is also sending workers hired through publicly funded employment programs directly to unregistered businesses to explain the benefits of the Mokpo Love Gift Certificate and the merchant registration process, and to help collect application documents.
The city plans to step up on-site assistance and expand the places where the certificates can be used, so that businesses do not put off registering because they lack information about the certificate program or find submitting documents cumbersome.
Mayor Kang Seong-hwi said, “We will work to ensure that the Mokpo Love Gift Certificate helps boost sales for local small businesses and stimulates consumer spending.”
