[Financial News] Taihan Cable & Solution has appointed President Kim Jun-seok as its new CEO. He has handled the execution of Hoban Group’s acquisition of the company and the expansion of key businesses. Kim is expected to focus on broadening the company’s business base in the U.S. and European markets and strengthening the competitiveness of next-generation businesses, including high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and submarine cables.
Taihan Cable & Solution said it held a board meeting on the 21st and appointed Kim as its new CEO.
The newly appointed CEO Kim graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and joined Hoban Group in 2010 after working at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. He has contributed to the group’s major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business diversification, and led the execution of its acquisition of Taihan Cable & Solution in 2021. Since then, he has driven the development of the company’s management strategy and the expansion of its key businesses.
He served as head of the management division at Taihan Cable & Solution in 2023 and as executive vice president overseeing management in 2025, driving the development of management strategies, business restructuring and expanded investment. He currently also serves as president and head of the strategy division at Hoban Group.
The newly appointed CEO Kim plans to expand the business in global markets where demand is growing on the back of investment in power grids and the energy transition. He intends to strengthen technological and production capabilities as well as the ability to execute projects, and improve management efficiency so that existing investments and business capabilities translate into results. His plan is to focus management on expanding the business while delivering tangible results from investments.
In his inaugural address that day, the newly appointed CEO Kim stressed the need to continue growing on the strength of accumulated technology and experience, and customer trust.
He stressed that “small differences add up to the company’s competitiveness,” and urged employees to work to improve technology and quality and secure cost competitiveness. He also outlined a direction for responding quickly to changes in markets and among customers, and increasing corporate value by selecting and focusing on businesses.
He also emphasized the shared growth of the company and its employees. The newly appointed CEO Kim noted that “the lives of about 10,000 people, including employees of our domestic and overseas affiliates and their families, are tied to Taihan Cable & Solution,” and expressed his intention to ensure that the company’s growth leads to better lives for employees and their families.
A Taihan Cable & Solution official said, “CEO Kim is an executive who has been part of the company’s growth and transformation since the acquisition of Taihan Cable & Solution,” adding, “We expect him to draw on his extensive management experience to strengthen the competitiveness of our HVDC and submarine cable businesses and reinforce the foundations for sustained growth in global markets.”
