[Financial News] CJ Olive Young Corporation is launching 'Green Room,' a new program that combines a music talk show with live commerce.
According to industry sources on the 21st, Green Room is live content connected to K-pop. It will be streamed simultaneously on Olive Young Live, the Olive Young TV YouTube channel, and O.Y Live on the Japanese-language site of OLIVE YOUNG Global. Real-time translation will also be available for viewers in Japan.
With 'the artist's waiting room' as its theme, Green Room invites artists who have recently made a comeback to introduce their new albums and share behind-the-scenes stories of their comebacks. Viewers can interact with the artists in real time and purchase albums.
Olive Young has been expanding its related category since adding K-pop albums to OLIVE YOUNG Global in 2022. It has broadened customer touchpoints through its domestic online mall, offline stores and pop-up stores. Album category sales rose 152% year on year from January to September this year.
Olive Young developed Green Room to build on this growth by combining K-pop with live commerce and strengthening its content competitiveness.
The first episode, airing at 8 p.m. that day, will feature SEO EUNKWANG of the group BTOB as host and NMIXX as guests. NMIXX made a comeback with a mini-album on the 19th. The broadcast will include a new-song listening session and a stage where viewers can watch NMIXX perform in real time.
Customers who purchase an album during the broadcast and verify their purchase will be entered into a draw for limited-edition photos, personally signed albums, Olive Young gift cards and other prizes. All purchasers will receive Olive Points worth the equivalent of the shipping fee.
A fan-participation game, the 'reverse-gifting event,' will also be held. Selected participants can receive K-beauty products.
After holding two pilot broadcasts this year, Olive Young plans to put Green Room on a regular schedule and present it as a seasonal series starting next year. It aims to broaden its reach among K-pop fandoms in Korea and abroad by featuring a wider variety of artists and broadcast content.
An Olive Young representative said, "We hope Olive Young Live will establish itself as a platform customers enjoy visiting, going beyond a simple sales channel," adding, "We will continue to present content that connects diverse aspects of K-culture through K-beauty."
