[Financial News] The Whoo, LG Household & Health Care’s luxury beauty brand, took part in the Financial Times (FT) Luxury Summit—Asia Edition 2026, a forum for CEOs in the global luxury industry.
According to industry sources on the 21st, the FT Luxury Summit is an event attended by key decision-makers from the global luxury industry and jointly hosted by the UK’s Financial Times and Japan’s Nikkei. With the Asian market growing in importance in recent years, a separate Asia edition has been held in Hong Kong since last year. This year, industry figures gathered at Capella Hotel in Bangkok on the 20th to discuss trends and future directions in the global luxury industry.
The Whoo was the only Korean beauty brand to take part in this year’s Asia edition. Yang Geun-hye, head of the Luxury Beauty Division, which oversees luxury brands including The Whoo, and Kang Nae-gyu, chief technology officer (CTO), attended.
At the event, The Whoo presented its position and vision as a science-based luxury brand. It showcased its Bichup line, which brings together its technological expertise, and its top-tier Hwanyu line, selected as an official VIP gift at last year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju. It also provided gifts for event attendees.
An exclusive discussion session featuring Yang, the division head, and CTO Kang was also held. Against the backdrop of K-beauty’s recent rapid growth, they presented a distinctive vision for the future of the luxury brand The Whoo. They also emphasized that the sustainable competitiveness of beauty brands comes from in-depth storytelling and robust research and development (R&D). They set out a vision to lead the field of longevity science in response to the skin longevity trend, drawing on the R&D infrastructure LG Household & Health Care has built over approximately 80 years.
After 13 years of research, The Whoo succeeded in commercializing NAD, an anti-aging ingredient. It developed NAD Power24TM to improve the skin penetration and delivery of NAD, which is difficult to use in cosmetics because of its low skin permeability, and is applying it to key products such as The Whoo Bichup NAD Power Ampoule.
A representative for The Whoo said, “We were able to showcase on the global luxury stage The Whoo’s unique brand heritage, which brings together Korea’s distinctive royal court culture, as well as its skin science expertise,” and added, “We will continue to pursue meaningful technological innovation to create products that customers can trust for a long time.”
