[Financial News] A lecture event has been organized in Busan to help people learn about the value of our oceans and reconsider their role as ocean citizens.
The Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) announced on the 21st that it will hold the 2nd KOBC Ocean Academy on the 31st in the lobby of the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.

The academy is one of the corporation’s signature public engagement programs, combining hands-on activities and lectures on a range of topics related to the ocean and the marine industry. At the first academy, held last January, star lecturers Choi Tae-seong and Ido spoke about the importance of the Arctic and Arctic shipping routes.
At this second event, comedian Heo Kyung-hwan and writer and YouTuber Kim Babi will appear and discuss the role of ocean citizens.
A total of seven hands-on activity booths, including a merchandise zone, will be set up at the venue. A range of programs combining play and learning will be offered, including a three-shot photo booth and a photo wall where visitors can take pictures with the corporation’s official character, Maro, as well as face painting for children.
The main event, a 'Talk Concert,' will be held in the museum’s main auditorium in the afternoon. Popular comedian Heo Kyung-hwan and YouTuber Kim Babi will give talks on the marine environment and host an audience-participation quiz show.
Starting on the 21st, the corporation will accept advance registrations on a first-come, first-served basis for around 200 people wishing to attend the talk concert. Each group may register up to four people, and on-site admission will also be available on the day of the event, subject to remaining capacity.
Ahn Byeong-gil, president of the corporation, said, "This Ocean Academy was planned with a larger-scale hands-on activity booth setup than the previous edition, so that people could naturally consider ways to put marine environmental practices into action in their daily lives." He added, "We will continue to create opportunities for people to experience the ocean and the marine industry up close."
