[Financial News] Passengers can now purchase single-journey tickets with credit cards, without cash, at ticket vending machines inside Busan Urban Railway stations.
Busan Transportation Corporation said it would begin offering credit card payment services at ticket vending machines inside Busan Urban Railway stations on the 21st.
For purchases of single-journey tickets at vending machines, passengers can use credit cards from nine domestic card companies, as well as overseas-issued credit cards affiliated with global payment brands such as Visa, Mastercard and JCB. Major domestic mobile payment services, including Kakao Pay, NAVER Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay, as well as global mobile payment services such as WeChat Pay and Alipay, will also be supported.
With the introduction of the service, passengers will be able to buy single-journey tickets without cash, using a credit card or mobile payment. In particular, ticket purchases are expected to become much more convenient for passengers who use the urban railway occasionally and foreign tourists who have difficulty using domestic payment methods.
However, service on the section of Line 1 from Dongmae to Dadaepo Beach Station and on Line 4 is scheduled to begin in December, after payment modules are installed.
The corporation's acting president, Park Myeong-do, said, "I expect that making credit card and mobile payments available at station ticket vending machines as well will make it more convenient for citizens and domestic and foreign tourists to use the urban railway."
