Dongkuk Steel selects Chungmu Chemical and Sambo S&T as outstanding companies for supply chain ESG

[Financial News] Dongkuk Steel selected Chungmu Chemical and Sambo S&T as outstanding companies in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) evaluation of its supply chain. Based on its supply chain ESG evaluation program, which has been operating since 2023, the company selected outstanding companies for the first time this year and presented them with plaques of appreciation.
Dongkuk Steel said on the 21st that it had visited Chungmu Chemical and Sambo S&T on the 20th and presented them with plaques of appreciation as “2026 Outstanding Companies in Supply Chain ESG Evaluation.”
Dongkuk Steel conducted written evaluations of major suppliers in ESG areas including the environment, occupational safety and health, labor, human rights and ethics. It then carried out on-site inspections of the final five companies to assess their actual level of ESG management.
Chungmu Chemical received the highest scores in every area of the written evaluation, while Sambo S&T was recognized during the on-site inspection for its management’s commitment to advancing ESG management and employees’ efforts to participate, and was selected as an outstanding company.
Dongkuk Steel plans to select outstanding companies in its ESG evaluations every year and share the selection criteria with suppliers. It also plans to provide training and consulting to strengthen its partners’ ESG management capabilities.
Lee Hyun-hee, head of the Support Office at Dongkuk Steel, said, “Since supply chain ESG is a competitive advantage we build together, we will continue to provide support, including training and consulting, with the aim of ‘strengthening capabilities.’”
