[Financial News] Celltrion Group Chairman Seo Jung-jin has taken office as the eighth chairman of Korean National Opera.
According to Korean National Opera on the 21st, Chairman Seo held an inauguration ceremony on the 15th at Shared Studio 1 of the National Arts Companies' Performance Rehearsal Center. His three-year term began on October 1, 2026. After serving as the sixth chairman from 2020 to 2023, he is taking on the role for a second time.
In his inaugural address, Chairman Seo said, "I will make active use of the global business management expertise and resources I have built up over the years, and do my utmost as a steadfast patron and supporter so that Korean opera can shine even brighter on the world stage, beyond Korea."
That day, Chairman Seo and Korean National Opera set out four priorities: strengthening the global competitiveness of Korean opera; creating a stable foundation for artistic creation by attracting more support; supporting young artists and broadening the base; and diversifying opportunities for the public to enjoy culture.
Chairman Seo named providing fair opportunities to perform based on ability, without regard to school or regional connections, as his top priority. He also said he would use his overseas network and resources to support a performance of the opera "Hwajeonga" at the Montpellier Theater in France, this November, as well as overseas performances being planned for 2027.
