[Financial News] As institutional investors’ capital flows into the global private-credit market, Nuveen Asset Management’s private-capital platform has surpassed $100 billion in commitments just over three years after its launch. The integrated platform, combining specialist private-credit managers in the U.S. and Europe, is seen as rapidly expanding its assets under management.
According to Nuveen Asset Management on the 21st, investment commitments to Nuveen Private Capital have exceeded $100 billion (approximately KRW 154.15 trillion). This comes about three years and seven months after the platform launched in March 2023, with commitments rising by at least 50% over that period.
Nuveen Private Capital is a private-capital investment platform comprising U.S.-based Churchill Asset Management and Europe-based Arcmont Asset Management. It manages private-credit investment strategies, including direct lending, targeting middle-market companies in the U.S. and Europe.
The platform is growing not only in fundraising but also in the deployment of capital into actual investments. Over the past year, Nuveen Private Capital deployed a total of $27 billion (approximately KRW 41.6205 trillion) across at least 400 middle-market investments targeting private equity managers in the U.S. and Europe.
In the global private-credit market, competitiveness depends not only on managers’ ability to raise capital but also on their capacity to source loans and execute investments. The investment network built across the two major markets of the U.S. and Europe is believed to have provided a foundation for growth.
Securing external strategic investors is also seen as a major catalyst for the platform’s expansion. In September last year, Nuveen Private Capital secured minority-stake investments from Hunter Point Capital and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Temasek. It also obtained a separate long-term capital commitment from Temasek.
Nuveen Private Capital currently has about 400 investment professionals across 15 offices worldwide and serves at least 6,000 investors.
Bill Huffman, Nuveen’s chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman of Nuveen Private Capital, said, “By maintaining the expertise Churchill and Arcmont have built up in their respective markets and investing to accelerate both firms’ growth, we have built a differentiated platform.”
He added, “This achievement demonstrates our commitment to further strengthening our global platform through performance and innovation while upholding our client-first investment principles.”
Nuveen is a global asset manager under the U.S. Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA), managing approximately $2.6 trillion in assets worldwide.
