Fans criticize remark made in front of Song Joong-ki: “The person who was married to Song Hye-kyo”

[Financial News] Actor Song Joong-ki was caught on camera briefly frowning when his ex-wife Song Hye-kyo’s name came up as he greeted fans from overseas. After the video was released, online users criticized the fan’s remark as rude.
A video of Song Joong-ki greeting fans from overseas on the street recently spread on social media.
At the time, Song Joong-ki was dressed casually in a hat, a sweatshirt and jeans. He smiled and greeted fans who recognized him on the street.
As he was greeting fans, a Chinese person who did not recognize Song Joong-ki asked, “Who is that?” Someone nearby replied, “The person who was married to Song Hye-kyo.”
After hearing the remark, Song Joong-ki briefly frowned, and the video showed his expression changing.
However, Song Joong-ki soon relaxed his expression, smiled again and continued greeting local fans.
Online users who watched the video criticized the remark, saying it was inappropriate to describe Song Joong-ki in terms of his past marriage. They left comments such as, “That was so rude,” “It must have been hard to keep a straight face,” and “Of course he would have felt uncomfortable.”
Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo met while appearing in the 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun” and later became a couple. They married in October 2017 but divorced in July 2019.
Song Joong-ki remarried in 2023, to British actress Katy Louise Saunders. They currently have a son and a daughter.
