[Financial News] A comprehensive healthcare event will be held in Busan to explore ways to advance regional healthcare and showcase a range of medical services and cutting-edge medical technologies to citizens.
The Busan Metropolitan City Government announced that it will hold KOMED 2026 at Exhibition Hall 1 of BEXCO from the 23rd to the 25th.
Sponsored by the city, the event will focus on strengthening regional, essential and public healthcare and establishing a regionally self-sufficient healthcare system. It consists of three events: the Regional Healthcare Decentralization Forum, K-Medi Fair and 2026 KIMES Busan.
The Regional Healthcare Decentralization Forum, under the theme “The Future of Korea Transformed by Regionally Self-Sufficient Healthcare,” will be held on the morning of the 23rd on the special stage at BEXCO’s Exhibition Hall 1. The forum will share the central government’s policy direction and challenges facing regional healthcare providers, and explore practical ways to cooperate in establishing a regionally self-sufficient healthcare system that enables people to receive the medical services they need in their own region in a timely manner.
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and regional medical institutions are expected to present strategies for strengthening regional healthcare and ways for medical institutions to cooperate, and discuss measures to address gaps in essential medical services and build a region-centered healthcare system
At K-Medi Fair, regional university hospitals and specialty hospitals will take part in health management programs for citizens, including health screenings, health consultations, provision of medical information and hands-on medical experiences.
KIMES Busan, a specialized medical device exhibition, will showcase cutting-edge medical technologies, including medical artificial intelligence (AI), digital healthcare, medical imaging and diagnostic devices, and hospital equipment.
Cho Gyu-yul, director of the city’s Citizen Health Bureau, said, “Regionally self-sufficient healthcare is a key challenge for regional healthcare: ensuring that citizens can receive the medical services they need in a timely manner in the areas where they live.” He added, “I hope KOMED 2026 will provide an opportunity for the government and the regional medical community to work together to seek solutions for regional healthcare, and for Busan to take the lead in establishing a regionally self-sufficient healthcare system.”
