[Financial News] CJ CheilJedang is joining efforts to revitalize the economy in the Jeonnam-Gwangju region.
Industry sources said on the 21st that CJ CheilJedang took part in the signing ceremony for the “Jeonnam-Gwangju Regional Win-Win Growth Council,” held on the 20th at the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The Jeonnam-Gwangju Regional Win-Win Growth Council is a platform for mutually beneficial cooperation in which local governments, businesses and public institutions pool their capabilities and resources to address local issues and promote regional economic revitalization. Participating organizations plan to develop and expand cooperative models that enable them to grow together with local communities.
CJ CheilJedang will take part in the “Jeonnam-Gwangju Local Food Market Expansion Project.” The project will link staffing needs arising from the launch of new products and increased production by partner companies in the region with the hiring of local talent.
It also plans to use its distribution and marketing capabilities—including its official online store, CJ THE MARKET, and the mutual-growth brand Jeulgeoun Donghaeng—to identify promising local companies and expand sales channels for local food through product commercialization support. Partner companies participating in Jeulgeoun Donghaeng recorded average annual sales growth of 37% over the past seven years.
In addition, CJ CheilJedang will support local food companies in strengthening their food safety and quality management capabilities by connecting them with consulting from the Food Safety Mutual Growth Foundation.
Kim Chan-ho, head of CJ CheilJedang’s Strategic Support Division, said, “Drawing on the capabilities we have built across our food business, we will support the growth of promising local companies and continue to deliver mutually beneficial results that can contribute to revitalizing local economies.”
