[Financial News] A sharing campaign will deliver food and daily necessities to households facing hardship during the winter. Supporters can choose the area they want to help.
Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry International said on the 21st that the “Warm Hope Box” campaign will run for about five months, from this month through next February. The goal is to deliver 40,450 Hope Boxes to households in crisis across the country. Individuals, businesses, organizations and others can take part through the organization’s official website.
The campaign operates on a “Matching Grant” basis: when a supporter donates 50,000 won, the organization adds goods worth another 50,000 won. Each box contains about 20 types of items, including food such as ramen and instant rice, and daily necessities such as laundry detergent, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Recipients are selected through direct recommendations from supporters and in collaboration with the organization’s domestic child sponsorship program, local community welfare organizations and others.
This year, the campaign is focusing on “Hope Box for Our Neighborhood,” which allows supporters to designate the area they want to help. The aim is to help households in crisis in their own communities while encouraging them to maintain an ongoing interest in their neighbors.
This year, Korea Food for the Hungry is also running “Hope Nest SOS,” an emergency support program for families with children in crisis. The program identifies families with children facing economic, social and psychosocial difficulties due to sudden crises and helps them overcome those crises.
Korea Food for the Hungry Chairman Choi Chang-nam said, “Caring for neighbors in need can bring about more meaningful change when everyone in the community shows concern and shares responsibility,” adding, “We will work to identify neighbors who need help and to spread a sustainable culture of sharing within communities.”
