[Financial News] Police officers can get one free Americano a day at coffee shops in major railway stations nationwide through the end of this month.
KORAIL Retail Logistics said on the 21st that, for Police Day, it had turned 15 Cafe Storyway locations at Yongsan, Daejeon and Busan stations, among others, into giveaway outlets. Officers can receive the offer by showing their police ID card or visiting in uniform. The free coffee giveaway will continue through the 31st. It was planned to thank officers for their hard work protecting the public and to put the spirit of sharing into practice. This year marks the 81st anniversary of Police Day, observed on October 21 to commemorate the founding of the National Police in 1945.
KORAIL Retail Logistics, which organized the event, is a newly established corporation that launched just over a month ago. On June 30, the Public Institutions Management Committee approved a plan to consolidate five subsidiaries of Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) into three, bringing together KORAIL Retail, which operated stores inside railway stations, and KORAIL Logistics, which handled logistics transportation. The merged corporation began operating as a specialized retail and logistics company on September 23. Its official name is expected to be finalized by the end of the year after gathering employee feedback and consulting experts, so it is being used with the label “provisional” for now. Its CEO is Park Jeong-hyeon.
This is not the first time railway station stores have been used for an anniversary event. Before the merger, KORAIL Retail also planned an event for this year’s Labor Day, offering a limited quantity of the “Stress Care Shim” drink for 100 won at Storyway convenience stores inside railway stations.
An Sang-deok, head of the retail business division at KORAIL Retail Logistics, said, “We organized this event to express our gratitude to police officers,” and added, “We will continue to work to realize the values of local communities and public value through various social contribution activities.”
