[Financial News] A man in his 30s who smelled the feet of a sleeping customer and committed an obscene act at a jjimjilbang was given a suspended prison sentence.
The Uijeongbu District Court’s Namyangju Branch said on the 20th that Judge Ha Seok-chan, sitting as a single judge in Criminal Division 1 sentenced the man, who was indicted on a charge of public indecency, to six months in prison, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered him to attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment classes and barred him from working for three years at institutions related to children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.
The man was sent to trial on charges of smelling a sleeping customer’s feet and committing an obscene act at a jjimjilbang in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, at around 6:30 a.m. on May 24 this year.
Investigators found that he saw a customer asleep in a cave-like room inside the jjimjilbang, felt sexual desire, and committed the offense.
The court said, “This offense is a crime that can cause sexual humiliation and discomfort to an unspecified number of people, and is serious in nature,” and pointed out, “The defendant committed another offense despite already having been fined for a similar crime.”
