[Financial News] A video showing a schoolboy climbing onto a subway luggage rack and lifting a bicycle has sparked controversy online.
The video was posted on social media on the 18th. It shows a schoolboy on the luggage storage shelf above the seats inside a Busan subway car.
Lying face down on the shelf, the boy lifted his bicycle into the air with one hand. Even with the bicycle raised toward the aisle, he maintained the same position on the shelf.
The person nearby who was filming did not stop the boy. Instead, they even playfully tapped the bicycle with their hand.
Netizens said they found the situation in the video hard to believe. Comments such as “Is this really happening?” and “It’s hard to believe just looking at the video” followed.
Some also said that parenting and discipline were needed. One netizen wrote, “Seeing kids like this makes you think about how their parents raised them,” adding, “Some degree of discipline is necessary so children can recognize for themselves when they’ve done something wrong.”
An account also surfaced from someone who had personally told middle school students making a disturbance on the subway to stop. The netizen said, “Last week, I saw a group of middle school students causing a disturbance on the subway and asked them to be quiet,” adding, “I was even more taken aback when I later realized their teacher was with them, too.” He added, “I told the teacher that the kids were very rude and needed to be taught better.”
Some comments also criticized behavior that shows no consideration for others in public places. Netizens wrote, “It seems like more people these days are acting without consideration for others in public places where no one is around,” “It’s an even bigger problem when people don’t know what they’re doing is wrong,” and “Sometimes people even respond defiantly when their wrongdoing is pointed out.”
Some voices also criticized the parents’ attitudes. They commented, “When I see kids like this, I think their parents may be similar,” and “Some parents think, ‘My child is good,’ ‘My child would never do that,’ or ‘It’s because they fell in with bad friends.’”
