【Financial News | Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Jeju National University and Inha University have signed an academic and credit-exchange agreement and will begin jointly using education and research resources. The two universities also discussed ways to cooperate on talent development linking Jeju and Incheon in artificial intelligence (AI) and aerospace.
According to Jeju National University on the 20th, the two universities signed an academic and credit-exchange agreement the previous day in the auditorium of Jeju National University’s Industry-Academia Cooperation Building. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both universities, including Jeju National University President Yang Deok-soon and Inha University Vice President for Academic Affairs Baek Seong-hyeon.
The agreement aims to expand educational opportunities for students and promote academic exchanges between the universities and the joint use of education and research resources. The two universities plan to pursue follow-up cooperative projects, including joint education and research. Credit exchange is a system that allows students to have courses completed at another university recognized for credit at their home institution.
The agreement was signed in conjunction with the 3rd A2CL Summit held that day. A2CL is a mega-regional talent-development model that connects education in aerospace and artificial intelligence (AI) with career development, employment, workforce upskilling, and settlement in the region.
Cooperation between Jeju and Incheon in aerospace and AI has expanded since July this year into a framework involving universities and industry. At the 2nd A2CL Summit, held in Incheon on July 15, the launch of a university-business council involving universities, companies, local governments, and the military from both regions was announced.
The core of the cooperation is to connect Incheon’s aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry base with Jeju’s private space-industry base. The aim is to use industrial and educational resources from the two different regions to link the training of aerospace and AI specialists with their entry into the workforce.
Officials from Jeju National University, Inha University, Jeju Halla University, Jeju Industry-Academia Convergence Institute, and Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence Institute attended the AI and aerospace subcommittee seminar held after the signing ceremony. They discussed expanding education and research cooperation between universities and developing talent in connection with regional strategic industries.
Jeju National University President Yang Deok-soon said, “We will pursue mutual development through cooperation between universities in education and research.”
Inha University Vice President for Academic Affairs Baek Seong-hyeon said, “I am confident that when Jeju and Incheon are connected through knowledge, technology, and talent, transcending geographical distance, the future of universities and the region will broaden even further.”
