Kyowon Tour said on the 20th that it had launched a Shizuoka travel package for the winter season, offering visitors a chance to enjoy Mt. Fuji and the charms of Japan’s smaller cities.
An analysis by Kyowon Tour of winter-season booking data for departures from this November through February next year found that bookings for trips to Japan rose 134% year on year. Expanded air routes, a weaker yen and increased demand for repeat visits are thought to have driven winter travel demand for Japan.
The package is designed to let travelers explore natural attractions around Mt. Fuji, including tea fields, waterfalls and lakes, and enjoy hot springs and shopping. Kyowon Tour has also broadened travelers’ options by offering both full-package and flight-and-hotel packages.
Key stops include Shiraito Falls and Otodome Falls west of Mt. Fuji, Obuchi Sasaba, where tea fields meet Mt. Fuji, and Oishi Park near Lake Kawaguchi. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art, which houses at least 70 works by Millet.
Travelers will stay at hot spring hotels throughout the trip and can use natural hot spring communal baths, open-air baths and saunas. The itinerary also includes a visit to Gotemba Premium Outlets, where they can shop while looking out at Mt. Fuji.
Kyowon Tour is expanding its travel offerings for smaller cities in Japan, following the earlier launch of a Wakayama package and introduction of hot-spring-themed products for Niigata and Aomori.
