[Financial News] A man in his 40s wearing an electronic ankle monitor was arrested after going to a police substation, writing a message in blood on the wall and shoving an officer in a rampage.
According to police on the 20th, Seoul Gwanak Police Station has booked and is investigating a man in his 40s, identified only as A, on suspicion of obstructing official duties.
A is accused of swearing at and shoving an officer at a police substation in Seoul’s Gwanak District at around 10 p.m. on the 15th.
Investigators said A had gotten into an argument with an acquaintance on the 14th and visited the substation the following day to meet the officer, believing that the officer who responded to the call had treated him like a criminal.
A was reportedly said to have told police during questioning, in effect, “I knew that the officer on the day shift on the 14th would be on the night shift on the 15th, so I waited outside the substation from around 5 p.m.”
After entering the substation at around 7:30 p.m., the time of the shift change, A bit his own finger and wrote a message in blood on the wall, protesting that he had been wronged, according to reports.
After being reprimanded by police and going home, A returned to the substation at around 10 p.m. that same day, yelling, hurling abuse and shoving an officer, investigators said. Police arrested A as a suspect caught in the act after a roughly one-hour altercation.
A was found to have been wearing an electronic ankle monitor because of a prior sex-offense record. Police sought a detention warrant for A, but the request was denied.
