[Financial News] The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on the 20th that it had won the Grand Prize in the Governance (G) category at the 5th Korea ESG Innovative Policy Awards, hosted by the Korean Association for Policy Studies. This marks its fifth consecutive win since 2022.
The award was established to identify and promote outstanding environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies at public institutions and state-owned enterprises.
Last November, KOCCA launched “K-Content ESG Leaders” to support sustainable management in the content industry. Ten companies took part, including SM Entertainment, YG, JYP Entertainment, HYBE, CJ ENM, SBS, Studio Dragon, ContentreeJoongAng Corp., Krafton and Pearl Abyss.
The participating companies agreed to uphold environmental and social responsibility, establish transparent governance and build an ESG collaboration network. On that basis, KOCCA developed a carbon emissions calculator for broadcasting and audiovisual content with CJ ENM, and another for performances and events with SM Entertainment.
KOCCA plans to identify joint projects among companies and publish “K-Content ESG Management Best Practices” to share large companies’ experience and know-how with small and midsize content companies.
KOCCA President Kim Yun-ji called it “an achievement in establishing a public-private partnership framework with leading companies in the content industry and expanding ESG management into a shared action agenda for the industry,” and said, “We will support efforts to spread the experience and capabilities of large companies to small and midsize content companies.”
