[Financial News] A customer at a big-box supermarket was shown shouting at an employee, saying the order of checkout had changed. The customer kept complaining despite young children being nearby, prompting other shoppers to step in and ask for quiet.
JTBC’s Sageon Banjang, which aired on the 19th, covered a disturbance that recently occurred at a big-box supermarket checkout. The program showed video footage of an argument between a customer and a store employee at the time.
In the video, Customer A stood in front of the checkout and angrily protested to an employee. Saying there had been a problem with how the checkout order was explained, A said, “Couldn’t you just tell me to come from here? I deliberately stepped back.”
A took issue with the fact that the actual situation differed from the checkout order described by the branch manager. A raised their voice, saying, “The branch manager told us to come in order when the gate opened,” and, “If we’re being told to come in order, why should I, who was standing right beside them, have to go to the back?”
The employee apologized, saying, “I think the line got backed up. I’m sorry.” But A’s complaints did not stop.
The disturbance reportedly occurred on a weekend, when shoppers had crowded around the supermarket checkouts. As the number of people waiting grew, the store opened additional checkout lanes, and some shoppers moved to the new lanes.
A dispute over the checkout order reportedly broke out when a customer who had originally been standing behind A moved to the front of another checkout line.
A reportedly complained that a customer who had joined the line after them was able to pay first, and loudly protested to an employee in the process.
As the shouting continued, other shoppers stepped in to calm A down. One customer asked, “There’s a baby nearby. Please be quiet.”
But A continued to complain, retorting, “I know there’s a baby here too. But look at this employee’s attitude.”
The supermarket said that a representative of the branch involved had apologized over the disturbance.
