Singer-songwriter Jae (whose real name is Kim Eun-jae) married partner Samuel Kim (Sam Kim) at her maternal grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun’s former home in Seoul, where Jae had made childhood memories with her grandfather. Jae wrote and performed “Golden,” the theme song for Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters, and the couple have been together for nine long years.
Wedding held at Stage28 in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, on the 17th

According to U.S. fashion magazine Vogue on the 20th, the couple married at Stage28 in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, on the 17th. They had originally planned to hold the ceremony in California in November, but moved it to Korea and brought the date forward by about a month. Jae said the preparations were busy and somewhat difficult, as they had only about four months, but the two worked together and successfully saw the wedding through.
The couple’s relationship began through music work in May 2017. They first met after being introduced by an acquaintance and making music together at Samuel’s home studio. They grew close over similar tastes in animation and music, and after being colleagues, became a couple when Samuel confessed his feelings.
They later settled together in Brooklyn, New York, where each built a career. Samuel proposed in June last year, and Jae accepted, promising to marry him. Soon after the proposal, KPop Demon Hunters became a global hit, and the couple’s daily lives changed dramatically. Jae also sang for Rumi, a member of the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, in the film. With promotional events and awards ceremonies keeping Jae busy, wedding preparations were put off for a while.
Stage28, where the wedding was held, is a particularly meaningful place for Jae. It stands on the site of the house and garden where Jae’s maternal grandfather once lived. As a child, Jae played there and spent time walking on the hill behind the house with the grandfather. The property was later turned into an event venue, and Jae’s older brother also held a wedding there.
Korean traditional wedding customs woven into the celebration

Before the main ceremony, the couple held a pyebaek ceremony at a Korean fusion restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul, incorporating traditional Korean wedding customs into their wedding schedule. The main ceremony took place in Stage28’s outdoor garden, while the reception was held in a large glass greenhouse at the same venue.
For the ceremony, Jae wore a custom wedding dress made by Danielle Frankel and heirloom jewelry passed down from Jae’s maternal grandmother to Jae’s mother.
Music chosen by the couple was played at the reception, and speeches were given in English and Korean. Stalls serving Korean street food were also set up outdoors. After the reception, the couple moved to Itaewon with a small group of guests to savor the afterglow of the wedding.
Two days before the wedding, on the 15th, they also attended the 16th Beautiful Artist Awards and Shin Young-kyun’s 99th-birthday celebration, both held at the same venue.
Jae attended the maternal grandfather’s 99th-birthday celebration with Samuel, then married him two days later, making it a meaningful time for the family as well.
Jae told Vogue, “The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt, and it was a joyful time for everyone to share in the happiness.” Jae reflected, “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the moment I felt the love and support of close friends and family as I walked down the aisle.” Jae added, “I was a little nervous, but the excitement of starting a new life as a married couple was greater.”
