[Financial News] A presentation reviewing the outlook for next year’s construction, materials and real estate markets will be held on the 12th of next month at the Construction Hall in Seoul’s Gangnam District. Co-hosted by the Construction Economy Research Institute of Korea and Daehan Economy, the event will present forecasts for four areas: construction, cement and ready-mixed concrete, aggregates, and the housing market.
According to the Construction Economy Research Institute of Korea on the 20th, the “2027 Construction, Materials and Real Estate Market Outlook Seminar” will be held at 2 p.m. on November 12 at CG Art Hall on the second floor of the Construction Hall. The institute sees next year as a turning point between an economic recovery and an industrial transition, and plans to outline a major transformation of the industry at the seminar.
The seminar was organized to assess the current state of three interconnected markets and share an early look at next year’s trends, as uncertainty surrounding domestic and global economic conditions remains stubbornly persistent. It will examine key issues and structural changes across the supply chain, from construction to materials and real estate, with a focus on drawing practical implications for government policy and corporate management strategies. Alongside ways to strengthen the supply base and normalize the market, participants will discuss what related industries need to do to build a foundation for sustainable growth. The aim is to consider changes across all three markets together and identify ways to respond in advance.
The presentations will follow opening remarks by Director Lee Chung-jae and cover four topics. Housing, the area drawing the greatest market interest, will be the final topic. Kim Seong-hwan, a research fellow at the institute, will discuss trends and the medium- to long-term direction of the real estate market under the topic “2027 Outlook for the Housing and Real Estate Market.” The first presentation, by research fellow Lee Ji-hye, will examine broad trends and variables across the construction market under the topic “2027 Construction Market Outlook.”
Experts from industry and related institutions will deliver the presentations on materials. In the second presentation, Kim Byeong-ju, director of the Market Research Center at Sampyo Industries, will analyze supply-and-demand conditions for major construction materials and market changes in a presentation titled “2027 Outlook for the Cement and Ready-Mixed Concrete Industries and Response Measures.” After a break, Baek Cheol-seung, head of the Aggregate Industry Promotion Office at the Korea Aggregate Industry Research Institute, will review the state of resources needed to stabilize the supply chain in a presentation titled “2027 Outlook for the Aggregate Industry.”
This year’s market was stronger than the institute had forecast at the start of the year. At a seminar of the same name on November 4 last year, the institute forecast that domestic construction orders this year would total 231.2 trillion won, up 4.0% from the previous year. It projected housing transaction prices to rise 0.8% nationwide and 2.0% in the Seoul metropolitan area, while prices in provincial areas would fall; it put the increase in jeonse prices at 4.0%. However, at its second-half outlook seminar held on June 18, it raised its forecast for the annual increase in home transaction prices to 2.5% nationwide and 4.5% in the Seoul metropolitan area. It also raised its forecasts for jeonse prices to 5.0% and construction orders to 240.8 trillion won, an increase of 8.9%. That is why the industry is watching closely to see what figures for next year will be announced at this seminar.
