[Financial News] Trinity Airlines has held an adoption-linked program to support retired quarantine detector dogs as they start new lives.
Trinity Airlines said on the 20th that it had held a bonding trip, part of its “From Detector Dog to Companion Dog” adoption-linked program for retired quarantine detector dogs, from the 17th to the 18th at Sono Pet Club & Resort Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, in partnership with Sono Pet and the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency.
Around 20 people took part, including families hoping to adopt and families whose adoptions had been confirmed, selected through advance recruitment that began in May. The event was organized to help detector dogs retired after performing national quarantine duties settle into new homes and to give prospective adoptive families ample opportunity to bond with them.
Over the two-day, one-night program, participants heard about the role of quarantine detector dogs and the adoption system, and spent time bonding with individual dogs. Under the guidance of Sono Pet’s professional trainers, they also took part in various activities, including walks, massage instruction, a lively field day, a treasure hunt and customized one-on-one evening walks.
The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency also provided individual adoption consultations and guidance on follow-up procedures at the event. Support was given to help participants fully understand the dogs’ characteristics and the adoption process before deciding whether to adopt.
A Trinity Airlines official said, “We are pleased that this bonding trip can help retired quarantine detector dogs begin a warm ‘second chapter’ in their lives as they meet new families,” adding, “We will continue to pursue a range of social contribution activities that create social value.”
