[Financial News] Canon Korea Inc. launched the EOS R8 Mark II full-frame mirrorless camera on the 20th. Compared with its predecessor, it features enhanced image stabilization and autofocus performance, along with continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second. Weighing approximately 546g, including the battery and memory card, it emphasizes portability.
According to Canon Korea Inc. that day, the EOS R8 Mark II is equipped with an approximately 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC X image processor. With the electronic shutter, it can shoot continuously at up to 40 frames per second and also supports pre-continuous shooting, which records moments right up to the instant before the shutter is pressed.
It is the first model in the EOS R8 series to feature in-body 5-axis image stabilization (IS). When taking photos, it provides up to 7.5 stops of stabilization at the center of the image and up to 7.0 stops at the edges. Its autofocus features include Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, registered-person-priority AF, and an improved subject-tracking algorithm.
For video, it supports 4K 60P recording based on 6K oversampling and uncropped Full HD 180P recording. Canon Log 3 and Custom Picture features can also be used for color grading after filming. The exterior introduces a new design for the first time in the EOS R system. It has an ergonomic grip and a multi-controller, and also supports two film tones that reproduce the look of film, Advanced A+ mode, and Creative Bracketing.
The body-only price is 2,319,000 won, while the RF24-50 lens kit costs 2,584,000 won. To mark the product's release, Canon Korea Inc. is running a product-registration promotion through December 31. Customers who purchase the product and complete product registration and enter the promotion by January 7, 2027, can receive one of the following: a hand grip, an extension grip, a battery-and-charger set, or a department store mobile gift certificate worth 80,000 won.
Customers who purchase the EOS R8 Mark II can also receive a department store mobile gift certificate when they buy an eligible RF lens, with the amount depending on the lens. Buyers of the RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM or RF45mm F1.2 STM will receive a 60,000-won gift certificate, while buyers of the RF50mm F1.8 STM will receive one worth 30,000 won.
Park Jung-woo, CEO of Canon Korea Inc., said, “With its new design, improved AF and image stabilization performance, and diverse creative features, the EOS R8 Mark II is a product that broadly supports the creative pursuits of photography enthusiasts.” He added, “We hope it will ease the demands of shooting and allow people to capture scenes just as they want, from fleeting moments to those that call for delicate expression.”
