On the 20th, Yuhan Corporation said it had chronicled in three books the company's journey since it was founded by the late Dr. Yu Il-han in 1926, including its work in developing and supplying medicines, corporate management and social contribution. The three volumes comprise a general history, an R&D history and a commemorative photo book.
The general history is organized into 10 chapters, from 'The Birth of Yuhan Corporation, a National Enterprise' to 'Toward a Global Pharmaceutical Company Centered on R&D,' and focuses on 100 major events. It also covers changes in corporate management and governance, including early efforts to distribute medicines, the pharmaceutical industry's first public listing, the establishment of a professional management system and the return of profits to society.
The R&D history chronicles major achievements and product development in the over-the-counter and prescription drug fields. It gives particular focus to the development of lazertinib, a treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (marketed in Korea as Leclaza and overseas as Lazcluze), and its global expansion. Lazertinib became the first homegrown anticancer drug to receive approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and subsequently entered overseas markets including Europe. The book also introduces future growth areas, including candidates for next-generation immuno-oncology drugs and metabolic disease treatments, as well as the contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) business for active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The commemorative photo book documents in pictures the 100th-anniversary projects, including an archival-material collection campaign, anniversary events, documentary and webtoon production, commemorative product launches and the opening of Willow House.
Yuhan Corporation plans to distribute the published 100-year history to major national and public libraries and university libraries in Korea, among others.
A Yuhan Corporation representative said, "Through this 100-year history, we will share the company's history and founding spirit and, building on the past 100 years we have shared with the public, create a new century that contributes to human health."
