[Financial News] Continental Tires’ all-weather tire AllSeasonContact 2 and its winter tire WinterContact TS 870 P each ranked first in tests by German automotive magazines. As both products are sold in South Korea as replacement tires, Continental Tires plans to help drivers choose tires ahead of winter. According to Continental Tires on the 20th, the AllSeasonContact 2 ranked first in the 195/55 R16 91V XL size category in tests conducted by Auto Motor und Sport and Auto Straßenverkehr. Continental Tires said the judging panel gave high marks to its stable handling on snow and its performance on dry roads, especially wet roads, and cited the energy efficiency resulting from low rolling resistance as another strength.
The WinterContact TS 870 P received good marks for its grip on snow and balanced driving performance, as well as its grip and handling on wet roads. Dry-road handling, low cabin noise, and low rolling resistance were also mentioned among the evaluation criteria. Continental Tires said it had incorporated sipes and a tread pattern to improve the tire’s grip on snow and steering performance, and had enhanced wet-road braking with its “Cool Chili” compound.
“Tires need to perform differently depending on the season and road conditions, so it is important to choose tires suited to the vehicle and driving environment,” said Niko Kyriatzopoulos, head of replacement tires at Continental Tire Korea Co., Ltd.
Kyriatzopoulos added, “Since both products received good marks in this test, we will work to help drivers in South Korea choose tires suited to winter road conditions and driving requirements and prepare for safe driving.”
