[Financial News] KT is teaming up with Acryl to support the artificial intelligence (AI) transformation (AX) of medical institutions. The two companies plan to expand hospital-tailored medical AX projects by collaborating on everything from standardizing medical data to developing and piloting AI services.
KT announced on the 20th that it had signed an MOU with Acryl to jointly pursue medical AX projects. The signing ceremony was held at Acryl’s headquarters in Seolleung, Seoul.
Acryl is an AX infrastructure specialist with expertise in building medical data platforms and medical AI solutions. The two companies plan to combine KT’s capabilities in integrated implementation based on AI, cloud and data with Acryl’s medical data and AI technologies and its experience deploying systems at hospitals to identify business models tailored to medical institutions.
Key areas of cooperation include establishing foundations for standardizing and utilizing medical data; jointly identifying and piloting medical AI technologies and services; and conducting medical AI research and development, commercialization and wider deployment. The companies plan to jointly propose projects tailored to individual medical institutions, conduct on-site pilots and establish a framework for cooperation spanning technology validation through commercialization. They will also seek government and public-sector research projects and new business opportunities.
KT has previously unveiled a “medical standardization model” that provides an integrated package—from infrastructure and data platforms to AI services—tailored to each hospital’s needs. It is supporting the adoption of AX at tertiary general hospitals and general hospitals across the country based on this model, and plans to expand the reach of medical AI services through this partnership.
“Through this partnership with Acryl, we will strengthen the foundation for deploying medical AX services in the field and drive the expansion of medical AX by pursuing hospital-tailored projects linked to KT’s medical standardization model,” said Noh Hyeong-rae, an executive director and head of the Corporate Business Division in KT’s Enterprise Business Unit.
