【Financial News, Gangneung = Kim Gi-seop】With the 18th Gangneung Coffee Festival, which will unfold over five days against the backdrop of Gangneung’s sea and pine groves, just a day away, installation of major facilities such as Coffee Island and the Global Coffee Lounge, along with safety inspections, is entering its final stage.
According to the Gangneung Cultural Foundation on the 20th, the 18th Gangneung Coffee Festival will be held from the 21st to the 25th at locations around Gangneung, including Gangneung Coffee Street and Songjeong Pine Grove. After tidying up the area around the festival grounds from the 14th to the 16th, the foundation has been installing major facilities, including the Global Coffee Lounge, Coffee Island, sales booths and electrical equipment, over two days starting on the 19th. Once the final safety inspections of the facilities and the participating vendors’ move-in are completed today, preparations for the opening will be virtually finished.
The festival grounds will have three information booths, including a main information booth, as well as restrooms, a tasting area, photo zones and photo booths. Rest areas such as a Coffee Picnic Zone and outdoor cafés will also be set up so visitors can relax amid the sea and pine grove scenery. Announcements at the venue will provide regular updates on program schedules and traffic and safety information.
Before the opening, the foundation will conduct safety inspections by category, covering facilities, electrical systems and fire safety. During the festival, it will maintain an emergency contact and response system with relevant agencies, coordinated through an on-site situation room, and deploy safety personnel at key locations to manage visitor routes and crowding. In the event of an emergency, it plans to respond swiftly in cooperation with the relevant agencies.
A Gangneung Cultural Foundation representative said, “We are carefully checking every space where visitors will spend time, from Coffee Island to the outdoor café, right up until just before the festival opens,” adding, “We will see it through to the end so everyone can enjoy the coffee festival with peace of mind among the pine groves and by the sea, including by concentrating safety personnel in areas where crowds gather.”
