[Financial News] A restaurant owner’s replies to customers who left honest reviews of the food have sparked controversy after the owner hit back with abusive remarks such as “bug,” “X-bum” and “bad upbringing.”
On the 19th, comments posted by the owner of a jjamppong restaurant in response to reviews on a delivery app spread across social media and online communities. The issue is that all of the owner’s replies to the reviews mocked the customers.
Customer A left a review saying the food was disappointing: “I happened to come across the place while searching and ordered delivery for the first time in a while, but the amount of seafood and meat in the gan-jjamppong sauce had dropped drastically. They’d even reduced the amount of sauce itself, so no matter how much I mixed it, it tasted bland,” and, “I think I’d be better off getting food somewhere else than ordering from here.”
The restaurant’s owner replied to A’s review: “At this point, you seem to be a patient. I recommend getting treatment at a nearby hospital. Please don’t use us again.”
Another customer, B, also gave the restaurant one star out of five and wrote, “Looking at the reviews, this is unbelievable. Calling a customer a bug? No feedback if you leave four stars? The food wasn’t good either. I ordered because I remembered the other branch being tasty.” B added, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen prices like 3,000 won for a drink and 2,000 won for a bowl of rice. Keep up the shameless profiteering!” and received a mocking reply.
The owner replied to the review, “Go on, say I’m an X-bum, a shameless bum with a face of iron. Was your upbringing a failure? My staff and I treat bugs like you—people with no upbringing and not a shred of manners—this way,” and mocked the customer, adding, “Learn some morals first, and don’t use us again.”

The tipster who compiled and shared these posts criticized the owner, saying, “I’ve never seen an owner reply like this in my life. What on earth is that way of talking to customers who order food?” Netizens also looked up the restaurant themselves and responded with comments such as, “They reprocessed and reused food, and the taste was all over the place,” and, “Why does headquarters leave a place like that alone?”
