【The Financial News, Daegu = Kim Jang-wook, reporter】#Company A, a household goods manufacturer, was at risk of production disruptions after the rental of its 3D printer equipment was halted. When the Integrated Support Center received the urgent request, it did more than simply provide information: it immediately contacted relevant institutions one by one near Company A to find one with the same equipment available to lend, and quickly connected the company with it. Company A was able to keep its production schedule on track.#
The Daegu City Regulation & Business Grievance 119 Integrated Support Center, launched as a pledge project of Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho, has achieved a notable feat, surpassing last year’s total performance just 100 days after its launch.
In particular, the center has emerged as a reliable support channel that is playing an active role in addressing the difficulties of local businesses and small business owners.
Mayor Choo emphasized, “Just as the number 119 in the Integrated Support Center’s name suggests, the city will be the first to step up when businesses encounter difficulties. We will seek answers in the field, not at our desks, and boldly eliminate outdated regulations and unreasonable practices that hold businesses back, bringing all our wisdom and capabilities together to make Daegu the best city for doing business.”
According to the city, the Integrated Support Center, which opened on July 13, received a total of 170 business grievances in its first 100 days—about 50 a month. This exceeds its previous annual totals: 161 cases in 2024 (13.4 per month) and 163 in 2025 (13.6 per month). Of the cases, 153 have been promptly resolved, while the remaining 17 are under careful review.
The results are attributed to a comprehensive overhaul of the grievance-handling system. The city unified the previously separate systems for handling regulatory issues and business grievances, and established an expedited process that informs businesses of the progress of their submissions within three days and the outcome within 14 days. This has significantly increased businesses’ trust and satisfaction.
The city’s “field-oriented administration that goes directly to the people,” in line with the ninth popularly elected administration’s emphasis on listening to voices from the field, has also contributed significantly to the increase in submissions. In addition to its online channel, the Integrated Support Center has visited industrial complexes, traditional markets, business training venues and other locations to hear concerns and identify areas for improvement.
The Integrated Support Center established criteria for calculating additional costs for nighttime construction and asphalt-concrete deliveries on days off. Previously, ordering agencies applied different standards for paying these additional costs, resulting in inconsistencies in whether payment was made and how much was paid. The Regulatory Coordination Team set clear, uniform payment standards and improved the system to ensure meaningful compensation in the field.
Choi Chang-hwan, head of the Business Support Division, said, “We plan to actively promote the Integrated Support Center so that businesses and small business owners can access it easily, while promptly addressing submitted business grievances and proactively identifying outdated regulations that hinder business growth. We will further strengthen the center’s role as a communication channel representing businesses and small business owners.”
