[Financial News] Professor Lee Do-yeon of Kookmin University's College of General Education has been recognized for global research impact and named to the world's top 2% researchers list.
Kookmin University announced that Professor Lee Do-yeon was selected for the first time for the 2026 World's Top 2% Researchers list, announced on the 19th by Stanford University in the United States and global academic publisher Elsevier. Based on the global academic database Scopus, the list comprehensively analyzes researchers' citation metrics and research output to identify the top 2% of researchers in each academic field.
Professor Lee has expanded the scope of research grounded in physical therapy and rehabilitation science to include epidemiology and public health. Research achievements have focused on chronic disease risk factors, long-term changes in the burden of disease, and the effectiveness of rehabilitation therapy.
Recently, Professor Lee has been analyzing health disparities by age and gender using large-scale health and medical data from Korea and abroad. Research is also underway to comprehensively assess scientific evidence for disease prevention and treatment, as well as health promotion.
This research provides empirical evidence needed to identify major health problems associated with an aging population and develop effective healthcare policies. The findings are expected to be widely applied in healthcare policy and rehabilitation therapy to promote public health and improve quality of life.
Professor Lee's research is also aligned with Kookmin University's mid- to long-term development strategy, 'KMU VISION 2035: EDGE,' which the university is pursuing as it marks its 80th anniversary. It is seen as demonstrating the potential to apply research achievements in real-world clinical settings and healthcare policy through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Professor Lee Do-yeon said, "I feel honored to have been selected among the world's top 2% of researchers," adding, "This selection is an achievement made together with co-researchers in Korea and abroad, and it is all the more meaningful because I can contribute to Kookmin University's growth into a world-class research university." Professor Lee added, "I am also grateful to the university for supporting me so that I can devote myself to research."
Professor Lee went on to say, "I will continue to devote myself to research and work to ensure that its results are applied in real-world clinical settings and public health policy."
