[Financial News] The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association helped wash bedding and provided personal hygiene products to households of elderly people and people with disabilities living in permanent public rental housing in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
Hope Bridge said on the 19th that it had held a laundry service at a permanent public rental apartment complex in Munchon Village, Goyang, together with Munchon 9 Community Welfare Center. It washed and dried 480 kg of laundry, including large blankets, for 20 households of elderly people and people with disabilities, and delivered it to each home that day.
The activity was organized to improve hygiene conditions for households of elderly people and people with disabilities during the change of seasons and help prevent illness.
One 5.5-ton special laundry relief vehicle was deployed at the site. Equipped with three large 18-kg washing machines and three large 23-kg dryers, the vehicle can wash and dry about 1,000 kg of laundry in an eight-hour day.
The organization also provided 196 sets of the “Mind Shower Kit.” Each kit contained items such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower towels, soap and hand sanitizer.
Resident A, who received laundry assistance, said, “I couldn’t even contemplate washing the blankets because of my physical condition. But you washed them so clean, dried them until they were soft and fluffy, and delivered them right to my home. It has taken a huge burden off my shoulders.”
Shin Hoon, secretary-general of the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, said, “We will continue volunteer activities that provide a comfortable environment for vulnerable members of the community through clean bedding and essential hygiene products.”
In June this year, Hope Bridge also worked with Gongneung Community Welfare Center in Nowon-gu, Seoul, to assist 50 households of elderly people living alone, people with disabilities and low-income residents with every step, from collecting laundry to washing, drying and delivery. It also delivered 500 sets of the “Mind Shower Kit” containing hygiene products.
