[Financial News] Seoul’s Songpa District has finalized 100 pledge projects for its ninth popularly elected administration, including efforts to revitalize reconstruction and redevelopment and the Jamsil MICE complex development, and will now move ahead with their full-scale implementation.
The district said on the 19th that it had drawn up implementation plans for 100 projects across seven fields, with the goal of making Songpa “a city with an unrivaled edge.”
By field, the largest number of projects fall under “a premium residential city,” with 35, followed by “a city of inclusion” with 18, “a city that fosters education” with 14, “a city within a garden” with 13, “a city of recreational sports” with 8, “a city of health and longevity” with 7, and “a city of culture and the arts” with 5.
Key projects include speeding up reconstruction and redevelopment in each area, creating street gardens along Songpa-daero, and developing a MICE complex at Jamsil Sports Complex. The district will also pursue policies closely tied to daily life, such as easing parking enforcement, holding seasonal cultural events at Seokchon Lake, expanding support for native-speaker English classes, and enhancing respect for people eligible for national merit and veterans’ benefits.
The district will also operate a resident participation body to monitor fulfillment of the pledges. This month, following an open call, the district appointed a pledge fulfillment evaluation panel made up of 30 residents. The panel will review project progress quarterly through June 2030 and offer suggestions for improvement. The evaluation results will be posted on the district’s website.
Songpa District Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “We will carry out without a hitch the 100 pledge projects we promised our residents, and work closely with the pledge fulfillment evaluation panel to carefully review the implementation process as we build Songpa into an even more livable city with an unrivaled edge.”
