【Financial News, Wonju = Reporter Kim Ki-seop】The Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency, which earned perfect scores on all three key indicators for its core projects, has received the top rating in the Wonju City-funded agency management evaluation for six consecutive years.
According to the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency on the 19th, it received the highest rating in this year’s management performance evaluation of Wonju City-funded agencies, which assessed performance from last year. Under the Act on the Operation of Local Government-Invested or -Funded Institutions, the evaluation comprehensively examines the overall management of funded agencies, including leadership and strategy, organizational and personnel management, financial management, regional coexistence and cooperation, safety and the environment, communication and participation, and performance in each agency’s core projects.
This year’s evaluation particularly recognized the agency’s performance in carrying out its core projects and its systematic capacity to support businesses. The agency received 100 points on every key management performance indicator, including strengthening business capabilities, contributing to the development of Wonju’s medical device industry, meeting technical support project targets, attracting businesses, and the performance of companies it supports. Its achievements in fostering the local medical device industry were thus objectively recognized.
The agency has worked to strengthen a full-cycle business support system that spans technology development, demonstration, certification, commercialization, and global expansion, while proactively identifying new projects in response to changes in the industrial environment, including AI transformation, digital healthcare, and age-friendly technology (AgeTech). It has also expanded the tailored support available to companies at different stages of growth and according to their needs, working to lay the groundwork for sustained growth in the local medical device industry.
Support for entering overseas markets was also cited as an achievement. The agency expanded local companies’ opportunities to enter foreign markets by supporting domestic and international exhibitions and marketing, including GMES, the CES Wonju joint pavilion, and Arab Health. It also received favorable reviews for expanding industry-academia-research-government cooperation by building a collaborative ecosystem that links local medical data with industrial infrastructure, in partnership with local governments, public institutions, universities, and medical institutions.
Director Kim Yeong-seong said, “The perfect scores for business attraction and technical support reflect the efforts of our employees, who have stood by companies from technology development through overseas expansion, combined with the support of Wonju City and local businesses.” He added, “We will systematically establish support for research and development, demonstration, and commercialization linked to attracting an advanced medical complex, carefully incorporate the needs of businesses on the ground, and develop Wonju into a medical technology hub that leads the future medical industry.”
