[Financial News] Sh Suhyup Bank has introduced an e-Braille service for online banking to make financial services more convenient for visually impaired customers. The aim is to improve access to financial information by providing transaction histories and other information in Braille files.
According to financial industry sources on the 19th, Suhyup Bank introduced its “e-Braille Service” for personal online banking beginning on the 16th.
The e-Braille service converts text displayed on online banking screens into Braille files. Visually impaired customers can view the converted files on their own Braille display terminals or print them using a Braille printer.
The service is available for around 23 key menu items, including transaction history inquiries by product, transfer history inquiries, credit card statements, and the issuance of various certificates.
Customers can download e-Braille files from the Braille viewing menu at the bottom of the online banking screen and check their financial transaction information more accurately.
Suhyup Bank expects the service to make it easier to access financial information that was difficult to understand using only the existing text-to-speech guidance. It is also expected to further improve the convenience of online banking for visually impaired customers.
Suhyup Bank also operates various programs to reduce the difficulties financially vulnerable groups face when using its services. It has introduced dedicated customer-service banking counters for older adults, people with disabilities, customers accompanied by infants and young children, and pregnant women, as well as a voice-conversion service for contract documents (Voiceye), Braille passbooks, Braille cards, and voice OTPs.
Shin Hak-gi, president of Suhyup Bank, said, “I hope this e-Braille service will provide practical help to visually impaired customers.” He added, “We will improve our infrastructure to enhance financial access and expand inclusive finance so that all customers using Suhyup Bank can access financial services without discrimination.”
